Brown’s future in Philadelphia is in question, and possible trade destinations are being identified.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The rumors surrounding Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver A.J. Brown are growing louder and now the Jacksonville Jaguars are reportedly entering the conversation.

For months, speculation has surrounded Brown’s future in Philadelphia following a tense offseason between the star receiver and the organization. Despite signing a massive extension in 2024 worth $84 million guaranteed, reports indicate frustration has continued to build over Brown’s role in the Eagles’ offense.

Now, NFL insider Jason La Canfora reports Jacksonville could emerge as a legitimate trade destination.

According to La Canfora, one league executive identified the Jaguars as a “potential fit” for Brown, citing uncertainty around Jacksonville’s current receiving corps, specifically the recent regression of Brian Thomas Jr.

Thomas exploded onto the scene during his rookie season, hauling in 82 receptions for 1,282 yards and 10 touchdowns. However, his production dropped significantly in Year 2, where he finished with just 702 receiving yards and two scores. The former first-round pick has since been mentioned in trade rumors as Jacksonville evaluates its roster moving forward.

The Jaguars’ reported interest in Brown also comes after indications that 2025 first-round selection Travis Hunter could spend more time at cornerback than wide receiver, potentially creating a need for a proven veteran target opposite Jacksonville’s young offensive core.

From Philadelphia’s perspective, a deal involving Thomas could make sense financially and strategically. At just 22 years old and still on a rookie contract, Thomas would offer the Eagles a younger and significantly cheaper option at wide receiver while providing upside for a bounce-back season.

League executives reportedly believe a trade involving Brown could happen sooner rather than later. One general manager monitoring the situation told La Canfora, “I still think it’s done before camp.”

If Jacksonville officially enters the bidding, the Eagles could gain additional leverage in negotiations, potentially driving Brown’s trade value even higher as training camp approaches.
