OKEECHOBEE – A 34-year-old Port St. Lucie woman died from injuries sustained when she was ejected from a side-by-side utility vehicle on May 16, according to the Florida Highway Patrol report.
The FHP report states the accident was reported at 3:56 p.m. on May 16, at a rural private property, 2102 N.W. 240th Street.
The 2026 CanAm Maverick X3 was driven by a 25-year-old Vero Beach woman.
According to the FHP report, the side-by-side was traveling eastbound on private property located at 21021 NW 240th Street in Okeechobee County. After accelerating, the vehicle made a left turn and lost control. As a result, the vehicle overturned, ejecting the right‑front passenger. The vehicle came to final rest upright, facing west. The right-front passenger was transported by air to HCA Florida Lawnwood Hospital, where she was later pronounced deceased. This crash remains under investigation.
The driver, a 25-year-old Vero Beach woman, received incapacitating Injuries.
Two other passengers, a 33-year-old Homestead woman and a 24-year-old Vero Beach woman also received incapacitating injuries.
