PORT ST. LUCIE – A West Palm Beach man is in the St. Lucie County Jail as of May 18 for allegedly striking another man on the head with a gun in Home Depot in Port St. Lucie.
According to police reports, Daniel Edouard, 45, of West Palm Beach, was arrested May 14 by Port St. Lucie Police on a charge of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon in connection with an incident at a Home Depot in the 2200 block of Southwest Gatlin Boulevard.
At about 9:30 a.m., May 14, officers went to the Home Depot where a man, who police say was the victim, said that another man, later identified as Edouard, was heard arguing loudly with other people in line at the self-service checkout lane and was using profanity, according to an arrest affidavit.
When the man told Eduoard to leave, Eduoard then pulled out a gun from his waistband and told the victim to back up before allegedly striking the victim in the head, according to an arrest affidavit.
A witness told police that Eduoard then left the store with a handgun and left in a four-door Jeep.
A man matching the alleged assailant’s description was later seen by officers at the Robert E. Minsky Gym in the 700 block of Southwest Darwin Boulevard.
Eduoard told police that he was involved in an incident at Home Depot earlier that day, according to the arrest affidavit. A search of Eduoard did not turn up the firearm allegedly used during the incident, according to the arrest affidavit.
Eduoard was in the St. Lucie County Jail as of May 18 on an $100,000 bond, according to jail records.
