JACKSONVILLE, Ark. – Jacksonville police have identified a suspect in a deadly shooting that took the life of a six-year-old on Sunday.

Police said they are searching for 21-year-old Artavius Dontal Johnson in connection with the deadly shooting of A’mir Houston.

Authorities said Johnson was last known to be driving a white 2012 Hyundai Elantra with the Arkansas license plate BGP35N.

Jacksonville Police Department officials said Johnson should be considered armed and dangerous.

On Sunday night, police said officers found the six-year-old victim after being called out at 7:30 p.m. to the 4000 block of South Highway 161 for a report of shots fired.

Officials said the six-year-old was in a vehicle and was “suffering from multiple gunshot wounds” when officers arrived. First aid was given, they said, and the child was taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Anyone with information or a location for Johnson is asked to contact detectives with the Jacksonville Police Department at 501-985-2802 and reference case #26-02004.
