The Associated Industries of Florida is endorsing Republican Anthony Bonna in the race to succeed term-limited Rep. Toby Overdorf in House District 85.

Bonna was the first candidate to file for the 2026 race for House District 85, where Republican Overdorf must leave office due to term limits.

Bonna currently represents District 3 on the Port St. Lucie City Council and was elected to the Council in 2021. Former Gov. Rick Scott previously appointed Bonna to the St. Lucie County Commission in 2018. Bonna earned a finance degree from Georgetown University and has held roles on regional planning, public safety and education boards.

Bonna is currently in a head-to-head with Thomas Colter for the Republican nomination for the seat, which covers parts of Martin and St. Lucie Counties. He holds a strong lead in fundraising, with about $118,000 raised from donors, though Colter is keeping pace with candidate loans — he has self-funded to the tune of $100,000 since joining Bonna in the race eight months ago.
