YesCare nurses in Leon County voice concerns after allegedly not receiving paychecks for weeks

  • May 20, 2026

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – YesCare nurses in Leon County are speaking out after allegedly not receiving their paychecks for weeks, with one nurse stating that they have not seen a paycheck since May 1.

Nurses employed by the correctional healthcare provider at the Leon County Jail have reported difficulty in paying their bills. They are seeking answers, as well as relief and compensation for the challenges they have faced as a result.

Nurse Shika D. works part-time with YesCare. She said she stopped picking up shifts because she can’t afford to work for free.

Employees were informed by the company that it would file for bankruptcy, according to a nurse. In a separate memo, the company also acknowledged the delayed paychecks, that same nurse revealed.

WCTV reached out to YesCare on Wednesday about their filing for bankruptcy, a timeline on when they expect to reimburse their employees and their response to the nurses’ frustration. As of Wednesday afternoon, the company has not responded.

In a statement from the Leon County Sheriff’s Office, deputies revealed they are “aware of developments involving YesCare and immediately initiated contingency planning to ensure uninterrupted medical services at the Leon County Detention Facility.”

However, LCSO said medical operations at the facility remain stable and fully operational.

“Medical staff continue reporting for duty, and LCSO has been actively engaged with staffing partners and medical personnel to maintain continuity of care for those housed at the detention facility,” the sheriff’s office said.
