House Bill 1038 is taking center stage again at the Jacksonville City Council meeting.
They talked about it for about two hours last night, a second time of a lengthy discussion.
Council members are still not on the same page about whether to support the bill.
HB1038 would move council elections to an all-at-large system, doing away with Ward-based representation.
Some, like Councilwoman Mickey Smith and Councilman Jerome Willingham, oppose and argue that the current system works and ensures proper representation.
Others, like Councilman Mike Yaniero, say they still need more time to form an opinion on the bill.
Council will revisit the topic at a future meeting.
