Lorain County Clerk of Court Tom Orlando, along with his team, announced a historic donation of $1.2 million to the Lorain County General Fund, according to a news release.
The cost-saving strategies implemented by Tom Orlando, which focus on data management and accountability, are yielding substantial benefits for the residents of the county, the release said.
These initiatives ensure that they receive outstanding service and assist in bolstering the General Fund, which supports various departments, according to the release.
Achieving results and maintaining a serious commitment to continuous improvement always will be the objective of any office led by Orlando, the release said.
The hourly employees in the auto title and passport division, represented by the United Steel Workers of America, demonstrate their dedication to public service daily through the operations of the offices, according to the release.
“Our team is honored to serve each constituent and deliver the exceptional service they rightfully expect from local government,” Orlando said in the release.
According to the Ohio Revised Code, the Clerk of Court of Common Pleas shall determine if there are surplus funds from the certificate of title operations that can be directed to the a county’s General Fund.
Since taking office in 2015, Orlando and his team have contributed millions of dollars, including $2.3 million in just the last six months, the release said.
As discussed during the budget meetings in late 2025, Orlando intends to make a mid-year donation in 2026, rather than at the end of the calendar year, which has been the customary practice when he has donated millions from the certificate of title fund, according to the release.
“We encourage you to continue supporting your Lorain County Auto Title and Passport Offices, located at 226 Middle Ave. in Elyria, and 621 Broadway in downtown Lorain,” the release said.
