• So overbuilding in Florida and the lack of rain have resulted in severe drought conditions. Why is anybody surprised? And the only thing the paper says that is being suggested is do not water your yard. I’m ticked off. How about telling people that in this land of fun and sun, we never flush on number one? Or if it’s yellow, let it mellow; if it’s brown, flush it down. Or only do the laundry or run the dishwasher if they’re full loads. Or turn off the shower in between lathering up. When I lived in a place where there was a lack of water, we were very careful and tried to use the water wisely. Wake up, Florida, this is the new norm.

• I am so ticked off and saddened about this whole situation with all these sloths brought over to entertain people in basically an amusement center and for profit. I truly hope that when all the dust settles, they prosecute these people.

The flip side

• I (a senior citizen) recently visited the Sam’s Club for gas and had the most thoughtful and courteous attendant assist me. There was a long line for pumps on the driver’s side and there was a pump with only one person, leaving the pump on the passenger side. Earl was kind enough to assist me in dragging the hose over the trunk of the car so I could fill up without having to wait in a long line for pumps that were on the driver’s side. Thank you again, Earl, for your assistance. It was very much appreciated.
