Florida cities rank among top 50 newest neighborhoods in the U.S.
Port St. Lucie ranked among the top 50 newest neighborhoods in the United States, according to a new RentCafe study.
RentCafe, an apartment search website, released a report of the newest neighborhoods in the United States. The agency analyzed data across 32,400 zip codes nationwide.
To qualify for the newest neighborhoods list, a zip code had to see at least a 51% increase in housing units between 2014 and 2023 and maintain an occupancy rate of 89.5% or higher.
The agency looked at the following criteria for its rankings:

Why did Southern Grove, Port St. Lucie rank among the top newest neighborhoods?
The top 50 list includes four zip codes in Florida, with Port St. Lucie second highest after Ponte Vedra, which was ranked fifth nationally.
Housing inventory in 2014: 3,117
Housing inventory in 2023: 8,619
Housing inventory % change: 177%
Population in 2014: 6,297
Population in 2023: 17,911
Population % change: 184.4%
In 2014, the area counted roughly 3,100 homes and apartments, but by 2023 the number had grown to more than 8,600. Today, 90.8% of the housing units are occupied.
