Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp to host Honey Drippers Weekend May 23-24 at Vystar Ballpark.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — What is a Honey Dripper? It’s a frozen treat made with flavored juice, some with pieces of fruit mixed in. It’s served in a cup with a spoon. For many in Jacksonville, it’s become a part of Duval County culture.

The owner, A. Michele Kimbrough came up with the concept in Summer of 2008 with just two flavors in red solo cups and started the company, Honey Dripper House. Kimbrough is a native of Jacksonville’s Eastside and said it’s been a “fruitful” journey.

“Honey Dripper started way before I was born, even before my mom was born. It goes by many different names across different areas, like ‘Freeze Cup’ or ‘Lilly Dilly,'” said Kimbrough. “Back then I wanted to make some extra money and I started it very small and here we are.”

Kimbrough is not just the ‘Honey Dripper Lady’ as some would call her. She works fulltime as a dean at Westside High School and has been an educator for decades, along with 18 years of Honey Drippers. how does she balance her career in education and her business?

“I keep grinding, keep hustling, balance my schedule a little better these days, and I make it work,” said Kimbrough.

In 2025, Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp announced a partnership with the Jacksonville staple, rebranding as the ‘Honey Drippers’ to pay homage to the Jacksonville sweet treat.

“It’s the unexpected blessings that hit differently,” said Kimbrough.

Honey Drippers are now being sold at the Vystar Ballpark during Jumbo Shrimp games along with themed merchandise. The Jumbo Shrimp are hosting Honey Dripper Weekend.

During the games on May 23 and May 24, the Jumbo Shrimp will dress in Honey Drippers uniforms with themed events surrounding the frozen treat.

Honey Dripper House recently opened a brick-and-mortar where they sell Honey Drippers, themed merchandise and other treats at the commissary located at 648 East Union Street in downtown Jacksonville. The shop is open every second and fourth Saturday from Noon to 4 p.m.

Kimbrough’s advice to others wanting to start a business:

“You have to stay consistent, find what it is that works for you and stick with it. Don’t give up. Don’t give in. Stick with it.”

Honey Drippers can be found at the commissary in downtown Jacksonville, VyStar Ballpark at the concession stand or throughout the First Coast at one of the Honey Dripper House’s Honey Dripper trucks.
