JACKSONVILLE, Ark. (KATV) — A crowd gathered at the Jacksonville Community Center on Tuesday night for a candlelight vigil honoring 6-year-old A’mir Houston and calling for an end to gun violence.
Friends, family and community members came together to support Houston’s family after the child was shot multiple times Sunday night and later died.
Investigators said Houston was found inside a car along Highway 161 with two adults who were not injured.
Jacksonville police are continuing to search for a suspect identified as 21-year-old Artavius Dontal Johnson. Police said Johnson was last seen driving a white 2012 Hyundai Elantra with Arkansas license plate BGP35N and is considered armed and dangerous.
Anyone with information about Johnson’s whereabouts is asked to call the Jacksonville Police Department.
