A Heat insider has warned that Miami faces a risky situation in a potential Giannis Antetokounmpo trade, especially with the Bucks setting a soft deadline around NBA Draft night. The Heat must decide whether to make a strong push or move on, as delaying could cost them draft flexibility and leave them exposed if Milwaukee changes direction.
The biggest offseason question for the Miami Heat is how far they should go if a trade for Giannis Antetokounmpo becomes realistic, and one team insider has now raised a clear warning about the situation.
According to Heat insider Ira Winderman, via the Sun Sentinel, Miami could put itself in a risky position if it tries to plan its offseason around a possible Giannis deal, especially with the Milwaukee Bucks expected to move quickly if they decide to trade their star.
Winderman pointed out that Milwaukee has a soft deadline on NBA Draft night, meaning interested teams will have limited time to decide whether to make a strong push or move on to other plans.
“Basically, it will be up to the Heat to either blow away the Bucks with an offer, or to turn to alternative plans, as you mention,” Winderman wrote. “The problem would be the Heat then losing the option of utilizing the No. 13 pick next month to select for the Bucks.”
“What the Heat can’t afford is to draft a player they believe the Bucks eventually would want, only to see the Bucks move on to an alternative trade package elsewhere down the road. In other words, no repeat of selecting Shabazz Napier in the 2014 first round to appease LeBron James, only to have LeBron walk in free agency weeks later.”

Despite another strong individual season, Antetokounmpo and the Bucks struggled to find consistency as a team during the NBA campaign.
Giannis still delivered at an elite level, averaging 27.6 points, 9.8 rebounds, and 5.4 assists across 36 regular-season games while shooting 62.4 percent from the field.
However, Milwaukee failed to turn that production into wins. The Bucks finished with a 32-50 record, placing 11th in the Eastern Conference and missing both the NBA Playoffs and the Play-In Tournament.
