CHARLOTTE COUNTY, Fla. (WINK) — Charlotte County officials are responding to multiple brush fires believed to have been sparked by lightning strikes Sunday evening.

Charlotte County Fire & EMS confirmed to WINK News that crews were working two, possibly three separate brush fires following strong thunderstorms in the area. As of 6 p.m., there is only one brush fire near mile marker 152.

Crews were dispatched around 5 p.m., according to officials, and additional information is expected as firefighters continue working the scene.

At this time, no road closures or evacuations have been announced.
