Former New Bedford resident charged as accessory in fatal Florida motorcyclist shooting – New Bedford Guide

Port St. Lucie police arrested three individuals in connection with the fatal shooting of a 53-year-old motorcyclist early on September 22, 2024.

Daniel Sanders of Port St. Lucie was riding his red Harley-Davidson motorcycle westbound on Southwest California Boulevard, near Southwest Greenan Lane and Southwest Cameo Boulevard, around 1 a.m. when he was shot multiple times in the head and abdomen from a pursuing blue Nissan Sentra.

Sanders was airlifted to HCA Florida Lawnwood Hospital in Fort Pierce, where he was pronounced dead at 2:04 a.m.

The incident followed an earlier altercation at The Office Sports Pub on South U.S. 1 in Port St. Lucie, after which Sanders was followed by the suspects.

Victor Omar Alvarez, 23, of Port St. Lucie, was charged with first-degree premeditated murder as the alleged shooter from the front passenger seat. Kyle James Driscoll, 25, of Jensen Beach, was charged with first-degree premeditated murder as the driver of the Nissan Sentra.

Nevaeh Rae Gonsalves, 21, of Port St. Lucie, formerly of New Bedford, who was in the back seat, was charged with accessory after the fact (a life felony) for providing misleading information to investigators and attempting to forge a bar receipt as an alibi.

All three suspects were taken into custody hours later at a residence on Southeast Glover Street and are being held without bond in the St. Lucie County Jail. Six shell casings were recovered at the scene, and Southwest California Boulevard was closed for several hours during the investigation.

Port St. Lucie Acting Police Chief Richard Del Toro and Assistant Chief Leo Niemczyk announced the arrests at a press briefing on September 23, 2024, noting the shooting appeared targeted and not random, though the motive—potentially linked to rival motorcycle clubs—remains under investigation.

The case is still in the pre-trial or ongoing investigation phase, with no public reports of trials, convictions, acquittals, or major resolutions such as plea deals or dismissals.
