FORT PIERCE, Fla. (CBS12) — A man is in the hospital after being found on a sidewalk suffering from a gunshot wound in Fort Pierce.

About 9:45 p.m. Sunday, the Fort Pierce Police Department heard gunfire in the area of 23rd Street and Avenue E. Upon arrival, officers found the man suffering from a gunshot wound.

FPPD says investigators determined the suspect was seen fleeing the area toward the 1100 block of Avenue E. The suspect was wearing a black hoodie and black pants and was described as having dreadlocks.
