Former Miami Dolphins defensive lineman and Oakland native Manny Fernandez has died at the age of 79, the team announced on social media.

Fernandez was a key member of the Dolphins’ famed “No-Name Defense,” which led Miami to the only undefeated and untied season in NFL history.

The Dolphins finished 17-0 during the 1972 season and went on to win the Super Bowl.

Fernandez was born in Oakland and attended San Lorenzo High School.

He played on all three Dolphins Super Bowl teams in the early 1970s and helped Miami win championships in 1972 and 1973.
