CLEVELAND– The Mid-American Conference announced its awards for the 2025 soccer season today. Six RedHawks were recognized: Katie O’Malley (All-MAC First Team), Juliann Kidd (All-MAC Second Team), Sophia Penegor (All-MAC Second Team), Kayla Perfect (All-MAC Second Team), Caroline Mortonson (All-Freshman Team) and Jaden Sink (All-Freshman Team). The RedHawks are enjoying their winningest season under head coach Courtney Sirmans and have already matched their most wins since 2014 heading into MAC Tournament play.

O’Malley put up a team-high 17 points this year, producing six goals and five assists. She ranked among the top 10 in the conference in points, goals and assists (during MAC games). Overall, O’Malley had three game-winning goals this season (vs. Chicago State, against Toledo, and at Ball State), and led the team in shots on goal (16). She recorded a brace in a victory over Central Michigan on Oct. 19. O’Malley becomes the third Miami player under Sirmans to be named First-Team All-Conference (Camber Hayes, Taylor Hamlett).

Kidd started in every match of the season for the RedHawks, playing a total of 1,601 minutes (including the entire 90 minutes in 16 of the 18 contests). Kidd’s throw-in ability made Miami dangerous in the final third, and the senior was credited with three assists this season.

Penegor played every minute for Miami this season, helping anchor a RedHawk defense that is on pace to shatter the program record for fewest shots allowed. Penegor scored two goals this fall for the Red and White, including the game-winner in a September victory over Tennessee Tech.

Perfect tied for fifth in the MAC in points (in conference matches) and ranked second in assists (in conference matches). Starting every game for the Red and White, the sophomore put up four goals and six assists in 18 overall matches this season, making multiple goal contributions in three-straight games for Miami down the stretch.

Mortonson made an instant impact for Miami in her first year, contributing two goals and two assists so far. Mortonson tallied her first collegiate goal in a September win at NIU and collected a goal and an assist in a recent win at Ohio. She started 15 total matches, recorded the sixth-most minutes on the team, and produced 10 shots on goal.

Sink was a mainstay on the back line for a dominant Miami defense in 2025. Sink has started every match of her collegiate career (18 in all) and played 1,619 minutes (third-most on the team). Her efforts have helped the RedHawks limit opponents to 0.83 goals per match and sparked Miami’s nine-game unbeaten run to end conference play.

Miami looks to continue its impressive 2025 campaign in the MAC semifinals on Tuesday, Nov. 4 at Historic Crew Stadium in Columbus, Ohio.
