INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, Fla. (CBS12) — Deputies say a one-year-old drowned Tuesday afternoon after a family member found them submerged in a South Indian River County backyard pool.

First responders, including the Indian River County Sheriff’s Office, reportedly arrived at the scene at 4:30 p.m. and rushed the toddler to Lawnwood Regional Hospital, where they later died.

The identity of the child and the circumstances around the drowning have not been confirmed at this time.
