A man was found dead inside a car early Monday morning with a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Tampa police say just hours later, a woman was found dead inside a home.
TAMPA, Fla. — A man and a woman were found dead in two different locations on Monday morning. Now, Tampa police say both incidents are “related.”
At around 1:20 a.m., officers responded to N. Central Avenue after receiving reports of an idling vehicle in the middle of the roadway. When they arrived, they reportedly found a man dead inside the car from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.

As that investigation was taking place, police say they were dispatched to a home on E. Patterson Street just before 6:30 a.m. in regards to an unresponsive woman. Preliminary evidence revealed smoke and structural damage inside the home, indicating a fire had recently occurred.
Police say the woman was pronounced dead at the scene. The medical examiner’s office will determine the official cause of death.
Detectives determined these were not “random acts” and that the woman and man knew each other. Investigators are working to determine the exact nature of the relationship and what led up to both deaths.
