FORT PIERCE – St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office road patrol deputies responded to 2600 block of Rolyat Street, Fort Pierce in reference to a deceased individual inside a tent encampment on May 25 at 10:20 a.m., according to the Sheriff’s Office Facebook page.
On May 26, pending findings by the Medical Examiner’s Office autopsy, the death was ruled a homicide.
Detectives with the Criminal Investigations Division are actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident, according to the Facebook posting.
The investigation covers an area around Okeechobee Road and Rolyat Street as detectives and crime scene investigators continue to process evidence and conduct investigative activities.
Detectives are currently attempting to locate Zachary Ryan Edwards, 30, who is homeless. Edwards was last seen about a week ago around the area of Okeechobee Road and Rolyat Street.
