TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – Leon County is being reimbursed nearly $1 million that was spent after Hurricane Helene.
FEMA is paying back the county through Public Assistance funding for its debris removal following Helene.
More than $979,000 was awarded to the county to fund the debris removal operations, according to a FEMA press release.
Last month, the county received a $12 million reimbursement for cleanup efforts after the 2024 tornadoes.
FEMA approved over $60 million in funding to help southeast communities recover from recent disasters.
According to the press release, nearly $52 million under FEMA’s Public Assistance program was awarded across seven states.
