FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (CBS12) — In a move just as the summer travel season kicks into gear, JetBlue has announced it will be cutting 11 underperforming routes to focus on Florida travel.

The airline said that they are pulling back flights primarily from the Northeast to concentrate its efforts on enhancing travel options in Florida, particularly to Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport.

The route cuts hit New Jersey and New Hampshire the hardest, with the Manchester-Boston Regional Airport losing all of its JetBlue flights.

Customers affected by the route changes will be notified directly by the airline. The report states that each traveler will have the option to either receive a full refund or select an alternate flight with JetBlue.

JetBlue’s shift may streamline its operations and allow for a stronger focus on popular destinations in Florida, but it leaves many Northern travelers seeking alternatives during the busy summer season.
