Miami Beach’s luxury real estate market is evolving. Ultra-wealthy buyers are no longer satisfied with just an oceanview condo or a standard waterfront mansion—they want massive, private compounds that function more like personal resorts. That’s exactly what Sunset Estates delivers. The recently completed compound sits on one of the man-made islands within the guard-gated Sunset Islands enclave.
Rather than a single mansion with a modest guesthouse, the estate combines two expansive waterfront homes across roughly three-quarters of an acre, with 187 feet of water frontage. The compound was intentionally designed to feel like one cohesive retreat, creating space for family, guests, business associates, or staff while still preserving privacy for everyone.
The property came together in stages. Prolific Miami developer Todd Michael Glaser, with architect Kobi Karp, built the main residence, which was completed around 2020. Investor Jason Wright purchased it in 2021 for $18.5 million, according to The Wall Street Journal. The following year, he acquired the neighboring property for $14 million, demolished the existing home, and built a complementary guesthouse in its place. The compound was completed in 2025.

Together, the two homes have eight bedrooms and tons of high-end features. The main house spans about 8,600 square feet with six bedrooms, a home office, and a bar. An elevator, smart-home tech integration, and a covered parking area for over 10 cars add to the appeal. The main bedroom leans into the comfort and privacy of a five-star hotel suite, complete with two walk-in closets, a spa-like bathroom, and an outdoor shower. The guest house adds another two bedrooms, plus a full kitchen, a waterfront gym, a conference room, and a massive garage. Both homes feature a “tropical-modern” style with 12-foot ceilings, concrete mixed with warm Brazilian wood, and full-height walls of glass that open to the gardens.

The transformation of the market is part of a broader wave reshaping Miami into one of the world’s leading hubs for finance and tech, with deep-pocketed buyers continuing to pour record sums into South Florida real estate, pushing prices to new heights.
Google co-founder Larry Page has reportedly spent around $188 million on Miami-area properties, while Meta’s Mark Zuckerberg recently paid $170 million for an under-construction estate on Indian Creek Island. Former Google CEO Eric Schmidt has also been quietly building a major Miami Beach portfolio, reportedly spending about $114 million on properties across the Sunset Islands since 2020, including multiple waterfront estates and teardown opportunities. Meanwhile, a Key Biscayne property attracting ultra-high-net-worth buyers—best known as the mansion featured in Scarface—recently hit the market for $237 million.
