Joe Jackson: British singer and songwriter Joe Jackson will be performing at the Balboa Theatre on Sunday. Jackson started playing at pubs as a pianist at 16 years old, and at 18 years old, he was awarded a scholarship to study composition, piano, and percussion at London’s Royal Academy of Music, according to event organizers. The Human League, Soft Cell and Alison Moyet: The sounds of synth pop and new wave music from English bands are landing in San Diego this week. The Human League, Soft Cell and Alison Moyet will all be performing for one night at the Cal Coast Credit Union Amphitheater. The Human League is known for its 1981 hit song “Don’t You Want Me” and in 1983, the album “Themselves” was nominated for a Grammy. Soft Cell’s “Tainted Love” is arguably its biggest known song and Moyet released several singles, including “Love Resurrection,” “Invisible” and “Is This Love?” 7:30 p.m. Tuesday. Lagoons: Los Angeles-based duo The Lagoons is traveling down to San Diego to perform at the Music Box. Brothers Joe and Selan make up the band mix indie pop, chillwave, surf rock, jazz, synth pop and electronic music to create their own laid-back sound and introspective lyrics, according to Spotify. The Lagoons have released four full-length albums and two EPs since their debut single “California” in 2016.
