Busch Gardens Tampa Bay
Health inspectors have temporarily shut down a restaurant at Busch Gardens Tampa Bay after finding “rodent droppings” in multiple areas.
The offending restaurant is Zagora Cafe, a quick-service location in the park’s Morocco section near the front entrance. According to a state inspection report, a May 26 inspection found “19 rodent droppings” on the floor of a storage room, along with droppings on shelves, the kitchen floor, underneath the front counter and on canned goods. The violations were enough to order the facility to be temporarily closed.
State inspection records examined by Theme Park Tribune indicate this is the third time in the past two years that Zagora Cafe has been ordered to close due to inspectors finding evidence of rodents. The restaurant was previously closed due to failed inspections on Aug. 27, 2024, and Oct. 24, 2024.
Another Busch Gardens dining location, Dragon Fire Grill, had been temporarily closed after an Aug. 7, 2025, inspection turned up a total of 14 health code violations. The infractions included finding live and dead roaches — including a “roach egg sac” found under a rice steamer — and a worker using their hands to stir coleslaw which reached past the employee’s gloves.
No reopening date has been announced for Zagora Cafe. Busch Gardens Tampa Bay did not immediately respond to an email from Theme Park Tribune requesting comment on the location’s history of failed health inspections.
