A big change is coming to one of Disney’s classic attractions, Carousel of Progress. Walt Disney World announced last year that plans were being drawn up, but it just detailed which updates were on the way.The spinning theater attraction depicted the evolution of life from the 1900s to the 1960s, but in the spirit of the name, the decades are now changing to show human progress.The new attraction will have scenes starting in the 1960s, after the New York World’s Fair, where the carousel was first thought up. After its inception in 1964, the carousel ended up in Disneyland in California, before being moved to Disney World in 1975, according to the Disney Parks website. Disney announced the scenes will take viewers through the 1980s and the 1990s, counting down on New Year’s Eve to the new millennium and finally a distant future with robots and space travel.Some things, however, will stay the same. John, Sarah, Uncle Orville and even their dog will continue to be the model family taking viewers through this story of time, according to the Disney Parks team. Disney’s release said the attraction will also return to its classic theme song, “There’s a Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow,” written by Robert and Richard Sherman for the original show, which was changed in the 1990s.[/image]
