MIAMI, Fla. (CBS12) — An operation on Sunday led to the seizure of approximately 900 pounds of cocaine, valued at an astounding $6.7 million, just one mile east of Cape Florida.

“The Coast Guard and our federal, state and local law enforcement partners remain vigilant in our shared efforts to keep our maritime borders safe by preventing illicit narcotics from reaching our communities,” said Lt. Matthew Ross, Coast Guard Station Miami Beach commanding officer.

The Coast Guard said that the operation was a coordinated effort by the U.S. Coast Guard Station Miami Beach, Customs and Border Protection (CBP), and federal agents from the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA).
