A fugitive wanted in a Miami-Dade shooting back in March that left a man critically injured was arrested in Georgia, authorities said.
Nathan J. Cooper was accused of shooting the victim during an altercation in the area of Northwest 5th Avenue and Northwest 83rd Street on March 17, Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office officials said Friday.
Cooper, who was on federal supervised release at the time, was charged with attempted first-degree murder with a deadly weapon and a federal arrest warrant was issued for him on March 20, officials said.

The sheriff’s office, the U.S. Marshals Service, and multiple Fugitive Task Forces found Cooper and arrested him in Norcross, Georgia, on Tuesday.
Cooper remains in custody in Georgia while he awaits extradition to Miami-Dade.
“This arrest reflects the outstanding partnership between the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office and the United States Marshals Service,” Miami-Dade Sheriff Rosie Cordero-Stutz said in a statement. “When violent offenders attempt to evade justice, our agencies remain committed to working together across jurisdictions to locate and apprehend those responsible for endangering our community.”
