A shoplifter who returned to the scene of the crime — wearing clothing stolen from the store just hours earlier — was able to slip out before police arrived.
A man selected several items of clothing at Walmart at 1941 W. Morton Ave. about 10 a.m. Thursday and then left the store without paying, according to a Jacksonville Police Department report.
He returned to the same store about 11:43 a.m., wearing the clothing he previously had pilfered, according to the report.
Employees apparently recognized the man and called police, but the man bolted on foot before officers arrived.
Officers were continuing their investigation Friday, according to police.
