During the first week of June, drivers in downtown Tampa can expect significant traffic due to a maintenance project along E. Polk Street.
On June 1, the rail operator CSX will begin maintenance work on its tracks. According to officials in Tampa, this will impact transit on E. Polk Street, between N. Jefferson Street and N. Ashley Drive.
The project excludes intersections of E. Polk Street with N. Florida Avenue, as well as E. Polk Street with Tampa Street, officials said.

Tampa officials added that the project will be carried out by work zones during 24-hour segments. Road work will go from 6 a.m. to 6 a.m. the next day. This will require temporary street closures around each work zone. CSX will complete each one before moving on to the next.
Officials with the City of Tampa encourage drivers to avoid all construction zones and follow posted signs and detours.
Streets will be impacted by closures on the following days:
June 1: N. Jefferson Street and E. Polk Street
June 2: N. Pierce Street and E. Polk Street
June 3: N. Morgan Street and E. Polk Street
June 4: N. Marion Street, N. Franklin Street, and E. Polk Street
June 5: N. Ashley Drive and E. Polk Street
