A 15-year-old boy is facing a first-degree murder charge in connection with a shooting in Hollywood last month, the police department said.
Hollywood Police officers were called to the 7300 block of Farragut Street just before 9:30 p.m. April 22, where they found one person who had been shot to death, police department spokesperson Deanna Bettineschi said in a news release Friday evening. The police department has not released the victim’s name, gender and age.
The 15-year-old boy was arrested Thursday after he turned himself in at the Hollywood Police Department, Bettineschi said. She did not provide further information about the investigation or the circumstances of the shooting.
The South Florida Sun Sentinel is not naming the teen because he is a minor. He was being held in the Juvenile Assessment Center in Fort Lauderdale.
The teen faces one count of first-degree murder with a firearm and one count of aggravated assault with a firearm.
