Kissimmee celebrates its annual Pridefest event

ORLANDO, Fla. — Just ahead of the official beginning of Pride Month, the city of Kissimmee hosted its annual PrideFest event.

People celebrate the diversity and contributions of their local LGBTQIA+ community and enjoy live performances, activities and local vendors.

It’s not just a fun event; organizers also took the time to raise awareness, promote inclusion, and bring people together. They tell us why events like these are important.

“Well, I think something happened during the Pulse event so many years ago,” said Jackie Espinosa, Kissimmee’s mayor. “I think that made us understand the value of life, the value of time, and the value of community. And I think this is a time to really all collaborate, come together, still laugh together, mourn together, and show that Kissimmee is one big community, and we love everyone that lives here.”

There are events scheduled throughout Central Florida during the month of June to mark Pride Month. The city of Orlando holds its Come Out With Pride event in October.
