Surveillance cameras showed smoke at around 7:30 a.m. in the area of 400 Central Avenue and 4th Street South.
ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — A parking garage fire in downtown St. Pete is causing road closures Monday morning.
St. Pete Fire Rescue first responded around 7 a.m. to an automatic fire alarm on 400 Central Avenue where crews found smoke coming from the fourth-floor parking garage.
Officials found two fully involved vehicles and used water supply to take out the flames and prevent them from spreading.
Surveillance cameras showed smoke in the area before it cleared around 7:30 a.m.
Around 40 firefighters and 20 Fire Rescue units responded to the scene
St. Pete police confirmed 1st Avenue South from 4th Street to 6th Street is closed, as well as 5th Street from Central Avenue to 2nd Avenue South.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
