PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. (CBS12) — Police in Port St. Lucie are preparing to share more information Monday afternoon about two separate weekend cases that led to the arrest of two people facing serious charges.

The Port St. Lucie Police Department said it will hold a press conference at 3 p.m. at its headquarters, where Chief Leo Niemczyk is expected to walk through what happened in each investigation and how officers made the arrests.

Officials say both cases are unrelated, but they do have one thing in common: in each situation, the suspect knew the victim. Police emphasized that neither appears to be a random act of violence.

In the first case, Jose Tsu Zamora was arrested following an incident in the parking lot of a local church. He is facing a long list of charges, including attempted kidnapping with a firearm, battery on an elderly person, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, aggravated stalking in violation of an injunction, and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, according to the PSLPD news release.

The second case involves Michelle Picard, who was also taken into custody over the weekend. She is charged with attempted murder, arson and resisting arrest in connection with an incident at a private home, according to police.
