LOUISVILLE, Ky. – MD Myers and Max Schneider scored second-half goals to lead the Tampa Bay Rowdies to a 2-0 victory against Louisville City FC on Saturday night at Lynn Family Stadium to maintain the Rowdies’ undefeated start to the season and move them nine points clear at the top of the Eastern Conference standings.
Tampa Bay threatened first in the 18th minute when Pedro Dolabella’s turning effort from 10 yards was parried away by LouCity goalkeeper Danny Faundez, which proved the lone clear chance of the first half.
The Rowdies continued to push for the opening goal in the second half, though, and Myers put the ball in the net on the hour-mark only for the offside flag to be raised, but with 14 minutes to go the breakthrough finally arrived when Myers was the first to react to a loose ball he had challenged for near the top of the six-yard area and quickly shifted past Faundez to score. Tampa Bay then wrapped up all three points in second-half stoppage time when Schneider was calmly slotted home by Schneider to continue Tampa Bay’s outstanding start to the campaign.
