Per my reporting at Beyond the 90′, both Port St Lucie and Fort Lauderdale are part of USL’s League One plans for next season. Here is an overview of both coming franchises that will be driveable for us in Palm Beach County. USL League One is a growing professional league which will be linked to the USL Premier and USL Championship via promotion and relegation in the near future.

Port St. Lucie SC:

Florida’s Treasure Coast is welcoming professional soccer with the arrival of Port St. Lucie Sports Club. Founded by passionate Argentine soccer entrepreneurs Agostina Galimberti, Gustavo Suárez, and Paulo Suárez, the club has established itself as a foundational piece of the region’s long-term urban planning. Port St Lucie’s area is where so many high-level soccer academies and caps operate so an extension into the professional game is logical.

The club will serve as the anchor tenant for the upcoming Walton & One Stadium, a planned 6,000-seat soccer-specific facility that forms the centerpiece of a major mixed-use real estate development project. Backed by a public-private partnership with the Port St. Lucie City Council, the venue is being engineered to provide a premier professional environment. Sporting a Matthew Wolff-designed crest featuring maritime iconography, Port St. Lucie SC is positioning itself to be a permanent fixture on the South Florida sports scene, with a future women’s side already in the blueprint.

Fort Lauderdale United FC

Already well-established in the top-flight women’s game via the USL Super League, Fort Lauderdale United FC is doubling down on its commitment to the region by introducing a men’s professional team to USL League One in 2027 under Tommy Smyth.

Playing out of their dedicated facility where they control revenue and scheduling on the campus of Nova Southeastern University, the addition of a men’s professional side creates a fully integrated, dual-gender pathway under a singular club umbrella- which also includes a USL W and USL League Two team, the later of which made a deep playoff run a year ago.
