ST. LUCIE COUNTY – A total of seven adults and three juveniles, along with confiscation of three firearms, have been made as of June 1 in Operation Summer Heat, a collaborative effort with St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office; Fort Pierce Police; FBI; and the Drug Enforcement Administration.
The program is a crime suppression initiative focused on reducing violent crime; targeting gang activity; removing illegal firearms; and combating narcotics activity throughout the community.
On Day 2, detectives and officers arrested:
• Karon Wade, 25, of Fort Pierce, on an outstanding warrant for fleeing and eluding with disregard for the safety of persons or property and reckless driving causing damage to persons or property.
• Michael Apolaro, 38, of Fort Pierce, charged with possession of cocaine; possession of a controlled substance; and possession of drug paraphernalia.
On Day 3, law enforcement presence combined with proactive traffic enforcement efforts resulted in additional arrests and firearm-related investigations:
• Tonazj Meckye Alexander, 19, of Fort Pierce, charged with carrying a concealed firearm.
• Shane Anthony Cole, 36, of Fort Pierce, an outstanding felony warrant for criminal use of personal identification and first-degree petit theft.
• Two juveniles were arrested on firearm-related charges.
Since the program started, eight firearms, including an illegal machine gun conversion device and an AR-15 style pistol with altered serial numbers, have been recovered.
