JetBlue Airways is preparing to enter Venezuela for the first
time, betting on strong travel demand between Caracas and South
Florida as it broadens its footprint in the region,
AeroTime reported.
The carrier said it plans to introduce nonstop flights linking
Fort Lauderdale and Caracas before the end of 2026, creating a new
connection between one of the largest Venezuelan communities in the
United States and the South American nation’s main international
gateway.
The move forms part of a wider growth strategy centred on Fort
Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport, where JetBlue expects
to operate nearly 130 daily departures during the summer season.
The airline has recently unveiled what it describes as its largest
schedule from the airport, adding new destinations and increasing
frequencies across markets in the US, Latin America and the
Caribbean.
By routing Caracas passengers through Fort Lauderdale, JetBlue
also aims to offer access to its broader network beyond South
Florida. The airline said the service is expected to cater largely
to travellers visiting friends and relatives, a segment that has
become increasingly important on routes serving Venezuela.
Flights are slated to be operated with Airbus A320 aircraft
equipped with the carrier’s standard onboard amenities, including
complimentary internet access, seatback entertainment and free
snacks and beverages.
The planned launch would further expand the roster of US
airlines serving Venezuela. JetBlue’s arrival would place it
alongside American Airlines in the market, while United Airlines is
also expected to resume Venezuelan operations later in 2026.
