CHARLOTTE COUNTY, Fla. (WINK) — A 26-year-old Land O’ Lakes man sustained minor injuries after his Toyota Corolla collided with a semi-truck and burst into flames early Tuesday morning on I-75.

The crash occurred at 4:52 a.m. on northbound I-75 near mile marker 156, south of Tucker’s Grade, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. Troopers said the driver was traveling in the right lane when his vehicle veered left into the middle lane.

Authorities said the front of the Toyota then collided with the back trailer portion of a Volvo semi-truck driven by a 54-year-old Tampa man. After the collision, the Toyota veered right, traveled off the roadway, and entered the woods before erupting into flames.

The Toyota driver was transported to an area hospital with minor injuries. The semi-truck driver was not injured.

FHP is investigating the crash.
