MAITLAND, Fla. — Crews in Maitland on Tuesday are working to repair the sinkhole that has shut down Wymore Road in both directions north of Maitland Boulevard.
Contractors will pour concrete grout into the sinkhole, injecting it up to 90 feet deep in eight spots to make sure the area around the sinkhole is more stable, according to city officials.
The concrete will replace some of the soil that washed away when the 20-foot-wide sinkhole formed more than two weeks ago.
Grouting could take several days, Maitland officials said. Once that work is complete, geotechnical engineers will evaluate the sinkhole and the surrounding ground before Orange County can move forward with roadway repairs along Wymore, Maitland officials said.
