Body found in water near boat ramp in St. Pete

St. Pete police are investigating after a body was found in the water near Grandview Boat Ramp.

Officers responded just after 9 a.m. Tuesday to the boat ramp on 6th Street South between 37th and 38th avenues.

Based on preliminary investigation, police say the body is believed to be that of a 66-year-old man who was reported missing around 9 p.m. Monday.

The Pinellas-Pasco Medical Examiner’s Office is still working to determine the cause of death.

“The investigation is in its early stages and is being investigated as a possible suicide,” police wrote.
