A man has been arrested on a second-degree murder charge days after a shooting in downtown St. Petersburg.

Officers responded just before 3 a.m. on May 25 to the area of 1st Avenue North and Beach Drive Northeast, where they found 29-year-old Peter-Austin Afentakis shot. He was taken to the hospital, where he later died.

Investigators say the suspect, later identified as Jacob Carreras, 25, shot at Afentakis during a verbal argument that night.
