45-year-old man charged with child abuse after hitting a kid with a hammer, St. Pete police say

A man in St. Petersburg is currently facing charges of aggravated child abuse for allegedly hitting the kid with a hammer.

The St. Petersburg Police Department arrested Ferid Bajric, 45, after they say he abused a child using a hammer to hit the minor on top of his head, according to the arrest report reviewed by 10 Tampa Bay News.

This incident occurred on Monday, in the area of Beach Drive NE, in St. Pete.

Police said the kid required hospitalization and was treated for his injuries. They also say Bajric and the child know each other.

According to records in the Pinellas County Jail, Bajric posted bond and has since been released.
