ESCAMBIA COUNTY, Fla. (WKRG) — Farm Share is hosting several food distribution events in the Florida panhandle this week, according to a Farm Share news release.
Eglin AFB tests to cause temporary road closure
Farm Share is a food non-profit and food bank that distributes food to food-insecure residents in the panhandle of Florida. Distributions include fresh produce and non-perishable canned goods.
Farm Share works with local farmers to “recover and redistribute produce that would otherwise be thrown away due to aesthetic imperfections,” the release said.
According to the release, more than 3.9 million families across Florida suffer from food insecurity.
Distributions are drive-through only to reduce contact for everyone’s safety and well-being. Farm Share also distributes to local soup kitchens, food pantries, homeless shelters, churches and senior centers.
