A teacher at a South Florida high school accused of engaging in an inappropriate sexual relationship with a student was granted house arrest on Wednesday.
Michael Enriquez, 53, is facing charges including unlawful sexual activity with a specified minor, lewd and lascivious touching, and offenses against students by authority figures.
During his court appearance, Enriquez’s attorneys agreed on a bond, and he was given house arrest.
Enriquez is listed as a science teacher at American Senior High School on the school’s website.
According to the sheriff’s office, Enriquez began having conversations with a 17-year-old female student last year, and those conversations turned into sexual acts.

He continued the sexual relationship with the student until May 2026, after the student had turned 18, authorities said.
Enriquez’s arraignment is scheduled for July 1.
Students on Tuesday reacted to Enriquez’s arrest.
