Florida gas prices fall, giving drivers relief at the pump

  • June 3, 2026

SARASOTA, Fla. (WWSB) – Gas prices are falling across Florida, giving drivers some relief at the pump.

The average price for regular gas in Florida was $3.936 on Wednesday, according to AAA’s Fuel Price website. That is down from $3.983 a day earlier, $4.269 a week ago and $4.342 a month ago.

Prices are lower in the Bradenton-Sarasota-Venice metro area. AAA figures show regular gas in the metro area was averaging $3.798 on Wednesday. That is down from $3.850 Tuesday, $4.211 a week ago and $4.367 a month ago.

The local average remains higher than it was a year ago, when regular gas in Bradenton-Sarasota-Venice averaged $3.048.

Experts say drivers should fill up their gas tanks now. Here’s why

Nearby metro areas are seeing similar drops. Regular gas was averaging $3.835 in Fort Myers-Cape Coral and $3.841 in Tampa-St. Petersburg-Clearwater, according to AAA.

Florida’s statewide average is below the national average shown by AAA, which was $4.261 on Wednesday.

Nationally, GasBuddy said the average price of gasoline fell 19.5 cents over the last week, reaching $4.26 per gallon as of Monday, reported by Gray News on June 2.

“Much of the decline was driven by falling oil prices and the unwinding of recent price cycles, as growing optimism surrounding a potential U.S.-Iran agreement helped ease concerns over global oil supplies,” Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy, said.

Analysts said drivers should not assume prices will keep falling.

“The coast is anything but clear … Overall, any setback in negotiations [between the U.S. and Iran] could quickly reverse the recent decline in fuel prices,” De Haan said.

GasBuddy reported the top 10% of stations nationwide averaged $5.73 per gallon, while the bottom 10% averaged $3.54 per gallon.

As of Monday, GasBuddy said the states with the lowest average prices were Indiana, Texas and Oklahoma. The highest averages were in California, Washington and Hawaii.
