CRAWFORDVILLE, Fla. (WCTV) – A Crawfordville family is helping young girls build leadership skills this summer through a unique hands-on program centered around horses.
Andrea Sprague, vice president of Freedom Farm USA, founded the family-owned animal therapy farm five years ago with a mission of helping families.
“We basically want to cater to families and children to come gain closeness, not only with the animals, but also with themselves,” Sprague said.
This summer, the farm is launching the Barn Beauties Leadership Program for girls ages 12 to 15. Participants will learn horse health, nutrition and therapy horse training while developing confidence, responsibility and leadership skills.

“It’s a great opportunity for young ladies to learn skills that they wouldn’t normally learn at home in front of the computer,” Sprague said.
Sprague added that working with horses teaches patience and problem-solving. “They are very sweet, sometimes they can be stubborn, so you have to learn to work through those things,” she said.
The program’s ultimate goal is to help girls build a deeper connection with animals and nature.
