Hillsborough County’s city-county Planning Commission wants feedback on Riverview’s Community Plan progress.
The county adopted the project back in 2005 to keep up with Riverview’s growing community.
It proposes goals to improve priorities like infrastructure, public spaces, mobility, support local businesses, preserve historic resources and so on.
But in 2024, county commissioners decided the plan needed a revision alongside the Tampa Hillsborough Highway Authority’s study on the possible extension of the Selmon Expressway on the U.S. Highway 301 to Sun City Center.
The update seeks to study how the affect the expansion would have on the surrounding areas of the roadway in terms of land development and transportation.
Hillsborough’s Spring 2026 survey opened May 20th and consists of a series of questions that prompt residents to share their opinions on the plan and each of the 13 goals it aims to tackle within Riverview.
“I think as we’ve been out hearing from the residents about the update of their community plan, we are hearing there’s still a lot of work yet to be done and that many of the residents are telling us those goals are still relevant in many cases and still priorities,” said Melissa Zornitta, the Planning Commission’s Executive Director.
Andrea Papandrew, Senior Planner of the Planning Commission and Project Manager, said residents have shared their wants to preserve open and recreational spaces like Alafia River that bring them enjoyment.
Moving forward, the planning commission says the project is an ongoing operation and will update residents on any future developments.
The survey is still open but will close this Friday.
