Ameren crews soon will be trimming trees around power lines in Jacksonville.
The city announced the work Monday on its Facebook page.
Ameren trims trees to help minimize safety hazards during high winds, thunderstorms and snow and ice storms. Trees around the power lines have the potential to have fallen limbs that can get tangled with power lines, causing power failure or damaged lines.
According to Ameren’s website, the tree trimmings may be repurposed as wood chips; some trimmings also may be given to area zoos for use with the animals.
Residents also can call 800-755-5000 or visit mysafetrees.com for more information about the tree trimming program.
